WINDHAM, Maine — Two teenagers were charged Friday with operating their Jet Skis while intoxicated after one of them reportedly struck a rock while on Sebago Lake and had to be rescued by the Maine Warden Service.

William Hanson, 19, of Raymond and Patrick Ciez, 19, of Windham were arrested by Windham police after Hanson was rescued, according to a press release issued Friday by the warden service.

Hanson struck a visible rock in the lake and was ejected from his personal watercraft. Wardens brought him and Ciez to the boat launch where Hanson was treated by Standish Rescue for minor injuries, according to the press release.

Both were taken to the Windham police station.

Edith Smith, director of information and education for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, said Friday that enforcement patrols would be out across the state this weekend.

“Let’s hope this is the last incident the Warden Service has to report about operating while under the influence,” she said. “No matter what type of watercraft you are on, please don’t drink while boating.”
