CUMBERLAND, Maine — A school bus and two passenger vehicles were involved in an accident Thursday afternoon that injured at least three.
The crash, on the northbound lane of Interstate 295, occurred around 2:20 p.m. Thursday, according to Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine State Police.
A passenger vehicle crossed the median and into the path of a second car and a school bus carrying 30 children, according to McCausland.
No one on the bus was injured.
The driver of the SUV that crossed the median, Rudolf Kaserman, 77, of Gorham, suffered minor injuries. The two occupants of the car Kaserman struck, a husband and wife, both were taken to a Portland hospital, one with serious injuries.
The school bus, which was from Freeport, was driven by Karen Slyvain, 56, of Freeport.
The accident scene was cleared about 90 minutes after the accident.
