Motor City sweeps Bangor in Legion baseball

BANGOR — Casey Estes pitched a six-hit shutout with seven strikeouts as Motor City defeated Bangor 3-0 in the first game of an American Legion baseball Saturday doubleheader.
Motor City won the second game 14-3 to sweep Zone 1-leading Bangor.
In the first game, Chris Hammond doubled, singled and drove in a run for Motor City. Phil Benoit had two singles with two RBIs while Estes added a double.
Dylan Morris led Bangor with three singles, Cody McInnis singled twice while Christian Corneil chipped in with a double.
In the second game, Max Andrews had two singles, a double and two RBIs for Motor City. Cody Cross doubled twice with two RBIs while Hammond doubled and singled with two RBIs. Benoit and Estes added two singles apiece.
Christian Corneil posted an RBI triple for Bangor.

Brewer 9, Motor City 1

At Brewer, Evan Eldridge pitched eight innings, allowing one run on three hits, to lead Brewer by Motor City Sunday.
Billy Deredin hit four singles and drove in three runs for 15-4 Brewer. Eric White posted two singles and a home run with three RBIs. Brandon Gendreau singled twice while Matt Morrow added a two-run single.
Cody Cross, Ryan Carr and Chris Hammond each singled for 12-8 Motor City.

Calais sweeps Lincoln

At Lincoln, Tyler Varney hit a two-out, RBI single in the top of the seventh inning to drive in the winning run as Calais defeated Lincoln 9-8 in the first game of a doubleheader.
Calais took the second game 15-14.
In the first game, Varney finished with two singles, a double and an RBI for Calais. Nick Pineo chipped in with a double and a single.
Garen Manzo posted two doubles, two singles and an RBI for Lincoln. Ted Walker hit a three-run home run while Aaron Cyr added a double and a single.
In the second game, Adam Geel hit a two-run single in the top of the seventh inning to knock in the winning run for 7-9 Calais. Bryce Colbeth hit two two-run home runs while Varney had a triple, a single and two RBIs.
A.J. Harris collected three singles, a double and an RBI for 9-10 Lincoln. Dustin Sawtelle had a home run, a double and a single with four RBIs. Logan McLaughlin added a triple, a double, a single and three RBIs.

Bangor 9, Acadians 1

At Bangor, Joe Stanevicz pitched a complete game, giving up one run on six hits, to lead Bangor by the Acadians Sunday.
Cody McInnis and Jesse Wood each had a double, a single and two RBIs for 16-3 Bangor. Dylan Morris hit a solo home run and a triple. Hunter Boyce posted two singles and three RBIs.
Andrew Giosoia led the 2-16 Acadians with two singles and a double.

Hampden 10, Penquis 3

At Hampden on Sunday, Matt Palmer hit a two-run home run and singled to help Hampden improve to 11-6.
Kevin Frederick chipped in with three singles and Justin Amoroso added a single and two RBIs to back winning pitcher Connor Perry, who struck out seven in 7 2/3 innings.
David Lord singled twice for 1-18 Penquis.
