BANGOR, Maine — Bangor police arrested an Orono man on a drug possession charge early Monday afternoon after a witness reported seeing a man in a car engaged in suspicious activity.
The incident that led to the arrest of Aaron Hughes, 19, occurred about 1:30 p.m., when police were called to check a car near the intersection of Leighton and Madison streets, Bangor police Lt. Jeff Millard said Monday.
When police arrived, they found Hughes in the passenger seat and six pills on the center console that Hughes said were Percocets, a prescription painkiller, Millard said. Also found was a white powdery residue, he said.
Hughes, who was charged with possession of a scheduled drug, was taken to Penobscot County Jail. He was released on bail later in the day, a jail official confirmed.
