All-star roundup: Hermon softball records two victories


HERMON — The Hermon stars recorded two victories to advance in the winners bracket with a 24-0 shutout over Hampden on Saturday, followed by a 12-0 verdict over Bangor on Sunday during District 3 Little League all-star softball action.
In other tourney action, Bangor defeated Houlton 15-4 on Saturday and Lincoln eliminated Houlton 9-8 on Sunday.
On Saturday, Allessa Oakes paced Hermon with a double, two singles and four RBIs. Sydney Addessi chipped in with three singles and two RBIs and Hailey Perry added a double, two singles and three RBIs. Alexis MacManus contributed two singles and two RBIs while Karli Theberge and Emily Perley each added a triple and two RBIs.
Julia Sicard doubled for Hampden.
On Sunday, Oakes recorded a four-inning no-hitter over Bangor. MacManus doubled, singled and drove in two runs while Theberge added a triple and two RBIs.
In Bangor’s win over Houlton on Saturday, Grace Perron notched three singles and drove in three runs to lead the winners. Megan Conner added two singles and two RBIs, Katherine Sund had a single and RBI and Abbey Ray doubled.
Makalya McGuire singled and drove in a run for Houlton.
In Lincoln’s victory over Houlton on Sunday, Courtney Gordon slammed a two-run home run in the bottom of sixth to give her team the victory. Camryn Nelson added a single and two RBIs.
For Houlton, Kristen Graham and Emma Peterson each singled twice and drove in two runs while Victoria Holmes added a single and RBI.

At Bucksport, Luke Wardwell hit a two-run double and a single as Bucksport I defeated Coastal Saturday.
Devin Mahue chipped in with an RBI single for Bucksport I.
Caden Mattson hit two singles and knocked in a run for Coastal while Devin Grindle added a double and a single.

At Ellsworth, Jacob Hornbrook hit an inside-the-park home run and a double with two RBIs to lead Calais by Ellsworth II Saturday.
Luke McDonald tripled, doubled and drove in a run for Calais. Drew Howard added two singles and an RBI.
Craig Ridley hit an RBI double for Ellsworth II while Nate LePage added an RBI single.

Old Town, Hermon post 2 wins

At Bangor, Old Town and Hermon each recorded two victories in tourney action over the weekend.
Old Town beat Bangor East 5-3 on Saturday and defeated Orrington 6-2 on Sunday while Hermon shut out Lincoln 12-1 on Saturday and downed Millinocket 16-2 on Sunday.
In other tourney action, Orrington edged Holbrook 6-5 on Saturday and Holbrook eliminated Bangor East 13-12 on Sunday.
For Old Town, Dakota Madden paced the offense with a single and double in Saturday’s win while Hunter Brasslette blasted a three-run triple in Old Town’s five-run fourth inning on Sunday.
For Hermon, Alex Applebee threw a five-inning no-hitter in Saturday’s victory while he paced the offense on Sunday with a single, double and triple.
In Orrington’s win over Holbrook, Max Perkins slapped a two-run single in his team’s five-run fourth inning en route to the victory.
On Sunday, Holbrook responded with an elimination victory as Jacob McCluskey highlighted his team’s eight-run fifth inning with a two-run single. Nick Crichton paced Bangor East with a single, double, triple and three RBIs.

Hermon wins two

At Hermon, the Hermon all-stars notched two wins in the District 3 9-10 softball tournament over the weekend. Bangor and Lincoln also posted victories.
On Saturday, Hermon blanked Hampden 11-0 and Bangor topped Glenburn 16-2. Lincoln defeated Hampden 14-8 while Hermon beat Bangor 24-5 on Sunday.
In Hermon’s victory on Saturday, Olivia Nash pitched a no-hitter to earn the win. Breanne Oakes hit two singles and drove in two runs. Katie Windsor doubled and singled while Kayla Gray added a double with three RBIs.
In Bangor’s win, Emma Gyernsey led the victors with three singles and two RBIs. Kahia Maheux and Kendra Diaz each added two singles and an RBI.
Brooklyn White, Kenzie Campbell and Katie Walker each singled for Glenburn.
On Sunday, Courtney McKecknie led Lincoln with two singles and three RBIs. Kourtney Thurlow chipped in with two singles.
Emily Dysart collected two doubles and an RBI for Hampden. Camyrn Bouchard added two singles.
In Hermon’s second victory, Breanne Oakes hit four singles and knocked in a run for the winners. Katie Windsor posted two singles and a double while Kayla Gray doubled and singled.
Emma Gyernsey, Kendra Diaz and Lisa Howard each hit a single for Bangor.
