SKOWHEGAN, Maine — A man is facing charges after a high speed chase through several Somerset County towns that ended with a crash and him being trapped in his vehicle.

Police say 33-year-old Richard Hilton Jr. of Norridgewock was flown to the Eastern Maine Medical Center following the Saturday evening crash after the chase that began in Skowhegan.

State Police Trooper John Brown tells the Morning Sentinel that Hilton was driving at speeds of up to 80 miles per hour.

The chase passed through the towns of Canaan and Athens and ended in Cornville when Hilton lost control at a bend on Route 150. The car flipped, pinning Hilton in it.

Hilton’s condition was not available.
