Saga of three little owls in  Brooksville

Posted June 13, 2011, at 1:28 p.m.

Two of three baby owls fell out of their nest in Nancy Allen’s Brooksville yard. She put this  laundry basket full of pine needles for one as a safety net. The other that fell out of the next was in rough shape and had to be taken to a bird hospital Avian Haven in Freedom where he’s is doing well.

The second owl has stayed in the nest and is now “branching” on the tree getting ready to fly, Allen reported. The Allens discovered there was a third owl in the nest hole that can be seen it peeking out from time to time. The third has not started to  branch yet.

One of the parents is nearby, across the street in a tree.
