High winds cause power outage in Piscataquis County

BDN staff reports

Strong winds on Thursday caused tree limbs to fall onto power lines, disrupting electrical service for nearly 2,400 customers in Piscataquis County, including in Milo and Bowerbank, Bangor Hydro-Electric Co. said. Other communities affected included Barnard Plantation, Brownville, LaGrange, Medford, Orneville Township and several areas in the Unorganized Territory.

Crews were making their way to the scene Thursday afternoon and will be working to repair broken poles and downed lines as quickly and safely as possible, Bangor Hydro said.

Customers were reminded to stay clear of downed power lines and trees in contact with power lines. Any additional outages or questions about restoration times may be directed to the Customer Service Center at 800-440-1111.
