BREWER, Maine — Brewer High School Principal Rebecca Bubar has announced the honor parts for the Class of 2011. The commencement ceremony will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 5, at the Collins Center of the Arts at University of Maine in Orono. Tickets are required.
Delaney G. Turner, daughter of Michael and Deborah Turner of Brewer, will give the valedictory address. She will attend the University of Connecticut to study biomedical engineering.
During her high school career, she has received the Maine Principals’ Association Leadership Award, the National French Exam Award, the Presidential Award, the Phi Beta Kappa Academic Achievement Award, The Society of Women’s Certificate of Achievement, the Superintendent’s Certificate, the Academic B Letter and Triathlete Award. She has also received departmental awards in Physical Education, French and Mathematics.
Turner was an editor of the yearbook, a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club, Se Beowulf and the field hockey, indoor track, spring track, softball and math teams. She was named a Penobscot Valley Conference scholar-athlete and a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Academic top scholar. She will receive an honors diploma at graduation.
Evan M. Nadeau, son of Ken and Brenda Nadeau of Brewer, has been named salutatorian. He will attend the University of Maine in Orono with an undeclared major.
During his high school career, he has received the George Eastman Young Leader’s Award, the Lesley M. Ohmart Jr. Athlete of the Year Award, the University of Maine Museum of Art Certificate of Excellence in Fine Art, the School Climate Award, the Superintendent’s Certificate, the Academic B Letter and Triathlete Award. He has also received departmental awards in physical education, French and English.
Nadeau has been a member of the National Honors Society and Se Beowulf. He has participated in soccer, golf, ice hockey and tennis and was named a Penobscot Valley Conference scholar-athlete and a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Academic top scholar.
