Gray man charged in theft from Sons of AMVETS

The Associated Press

LEWISTON, Maine — Officials say a former commander of a Sons of AMVETS post in Maine has been charged with felony theft for allegedly stealing $8,900 from the organization’s bank account.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department said 32-year-old Peter Ross Bragdon of Gray is free on bail following his arrest on Monday.

Capt. Donald Goulet said Bragdon was once commander of the Sons of AMVETS post in New Gloucester, but had his membership revoked. Goulet said that after the revocation, Bragdon’s name remained on the organization’s bank account and he continued to make withdrawals.
