BANGOR, Maine — VSA Maine held the first showing of “A Matter of Perception 2010,” a juried exhibition showcasing the work and creativity of Maine artists with disabilities, at Atrium Art Gallery in Lewiston. Local artists participating were:

  1. Jill Raczek of Bangor.
  2. Lauren White of Winterport.

The aim of “A Matter of Perception 2010” was to demonstrate that physical, cognitive or other disabilities do not limit talent or creativity. Kippy Rudy, executive director of VSA Maine, said of the 37 works in the exhibit: “The artists represent the spectrum of what it means to have a disability. They come from every corner of the state and from a range of artistic backgrounds, as represented by the breadth of work.”
