Maine National Guard, Reserve to thank Patriotic Employers

ROCKPORT, Maine — The Maine National Guard and Reserve will thank and recognize 14  Maine businesses from around the state for “their outstanding support of the men and women who serve” by issuing them Patriotic Employer Awards, Capt. Shanon Cotta said in a press release.

The awards ceremony is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. May 14 at the Samoset Resort, and Gov. Paul LePage, Maj. Gen. John W. Libby and Rob Carmichael, chairman of the Maine Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Committee, will present the awards to the Maine businesses.

Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve is a Department of Defense organization that seeks to promote a culture in which all American employers support and value the military service of their employees, Cotta said. The Maine committee is headquartered at Camp Keyes in Augusta.

Each of the businesses has a Maine national guard member or reservist as an employee.

The following employers will be recognized: Delta Ambulance of Waterville, Two Bridges Regional Jail of Wiscasset, Bank of America of Belfast, SGC Engineering of Westbrook, Mac-Lin Medical of Bangor, Maine Warden Service of Augusta, U.S. Postal Service of Hampden, Oakland Police Department, Kennebec Internal Medicine of Augusta, Bangor Hydro Electric Company, Spurwink Services of Portland, Riverside Farm of Monroe, The Home Depot of Rockland, and Alfred Fire & Rescue of Alfred.
