Storm to dump snow on northern Maine

The Associated Press

CARIBOU, Maine — People in northern Maine are expected to wake up to snow even as the calendar is approaching late April.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for northern Maine for Wednesday calling for 4 to 8 inches of snow, mainly across higher elevations. Areas farther south in the watch area could get 2 to 4 inches.

Forecasters say the western Maine mountains and far northern New Hampshire are expected to get a mix of sleet, snow and freezing rain in the early morning hours Wednesday. One to 3 inches of sleet and wet snow are expected, with higher elevations possibly getting 4 to 5 inches.
