BRUNSWICK – Joan Ruth Dunroe, 85, passed away April 5, 2011, among family and friends at Pleasant Hill Road Residential Care, Brunswick. The oldest of five children, she was born in Bangor, to William and Mary Francis (O’Hearon) Dunroe.

Although Joan was at Pineland for many years, she spent every summer at home with her parents and siblings in Winterport. Joan could capture a roomful of people with her wonderful laugh and sense of humor. Her family wishes to express their deepest thanks to her extraordinary caregivers at Pleasant Hill, especially Bonnie, Sara and Jason. A very special thank-you to Jo-Ellyn from Chan Hospice.

In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by two brothers, Terance W. Dunroe and Thomas A. Dunroe. She is survived by two sisters, Mary E. Fleming of Bangor, and Cynthia Gamage and her husband, John, of North Yarmouth. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 1 p.m. Friday, April 8, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 768 Ohio St., Bangor. Interment will be after at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor. There will be a reception after the services at the church’s fellowship hall. Arrangements are under the care of Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland.
