SWANVILLE, Maine — A local man was arrested over the weekend after he allegedly broke into a residence and terrorized the two women inside.

John T. Hines, 44, of Swanville reportedly went to the Swanville home and started beating on the door at about 10 p.m. Saturday. The people inside told him he wasn’t welcome, but Hines allegedly continued to bang and kick at the door, said Chief Deputy Robert Keating of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.

Once inside, he shoved the women, yelled obscenities and threatened them, they reported to the police.

By the time authorities arrived at the home, Hines had gone to another residence, where police arrested him. He was cooperative with them, Keating said.

Hines was charged with domestic violence assault, domestic violence terrorizing, terrorizing and aggravated criminal trespass. He remained in custody at Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset on Tuesday morning.
