- What is your motivation to “Move and Improve”?
My motivation to “Move and Improve” is what I see when I look into the mirror. When I hit middle-age, my body unfortunately began to spread…coincidentally mostly around my middle. I would like to get back down to my pre-child bearing weight; I’ve only got 43 pounds to go. I choose not to diet because I don’t have the mindset to successfully lose weight that way. I chose to increase my physical activity to achieve my desired weight.
- What is your biggest obstacle to “Move and Improve”?
My biggest obstacles to “Move and Improve” are myself and my dog. Really! My dog is a St. Bernard, Newfoundland mix that weighs 140 pounds. Until I got him trained to go lie down on his bed after breakfast, morning exercise was more like moving through an obstacle course. Some mornings, it’s very difficult to get myself to exercise. That obstacle, while it raises its ugly head at least once a week, was overcome by establishing a workout routine and sticking to it.
- What kind of activities do you engage in to reach your goal?
I have a date each morning with Richard Simmons and “Sweating to the Oldies” a minimum of 4 times a week. Recently, and I do mean recently (I did my first 20 minutes on Monday) I’ve added Yoga to my exercise regimen. I plan to work up to 20 minutes every day, 7 days a week.
