SEDGWICK, Maine — Three teenagers were injured Sunday in a head-on collision on Route 15 in Sedgwick.
According to Trooper Tom Pickering of the Maine State Police, the accident happened at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of Route 15 and Herrick Road. Pickering said a small Nissan pickup truck driven by a 16-year-old male from Deer Isle, whose name has not yet been released, was traveling from Deer Isle on Route 15 when it crossed the centerline and struck a Honda CRV operated by Ethan Pfohl, 25, of Blue Hill.
Pfohl was not injured in the accident.
The 16-year-old driver and one of his passengers, Cody Grimmel, 18, of Little Deer Isle, were taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. Both were in the intensive care unit there Monday afternoon, according to Pickering.
Another passenger in the pickup truck, Jamey Moore, 17, of Blue Hill, was taken to Blue Hill Memorial Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and later released.
The pickup and the SUV were both considered a total loss in the crash
The accident remains under investigation and charges are likely, according to Pickering.
Pickering was assisted at the scene by Sgt. Alden Bustard, Trooper Greg Roy, Trooper Michael Johnston, all of the Maine State Police, Deputy Ben Astbury of the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department, and Officer Chad Wilmot of the Ellsworth Police Department.
