Trail groomer reports threat from snowmobiler in Little Moose Township

By Diana Bowley, BDN Staff

LITTLE MOOSE TOWNSHIP, Maine — A snowmobile trail groomer reportedly had a close call Sunday with an angry snowmobiler.

Sgt. Mike Gould of the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department was told that a trail groomer on Burnham Pond Road in Little Moose Township had a confrontation with a snowmobiler, but there was no assault.

Gould said he was told that the groomer and the snowmobiler had come to a bridge where they both stopped. The snowmobiler allegedly threatened the groomer, and the groomer grabbed a hammer to protect himself. A few seconds later, friends of the snowmobiler arrived and persuaded him to leave without further incident, the sergeant said.

The identity of the snowmobiler was unknown.
