BANGOR, Maine — A wanted Bangor man was arrested Monday afternoon and jail officials later found pills in one of his pockets, which led to an additional charge, Sgt. Paul Edwards said on Tuesday.
Shane Sapiel, 30, had five outstanding warrants that date back to 2008 and all are for his failure to pay fines for two convictions for stealing drugs, theft and for twice violating his bail conditions, Edwards said.
“While he was being processed [at Penobscot County Jail] they pulled out pills from his pocket,” Edwards said.
Sapiel said he has a prescription for the Citalopraum, an anti-depressant, but was charged with possession of drugs. The charge will be dismissed if he can show proof of a prescription, the sergeant said.
