BANGOR, Maine — The founding director of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Resource Center at Syracuse University has been named director of admissions for Bangor Theological Seminary.
The appointment of Adrea L. Jaehnig, 46, of Windham was announced Thursday by the Rev. Kent Ulery, president of the seminary, located at Husson University.
“I am grateful and tremendously excited to join Bangor Theological Seminary,” Jaehnig said in the press release. “I am eager to work with individuals to discern how BTS’ first-class academic courses can fulfill their passion for continuing education, nurture their spiritual lives and provide them with practical preparation for a life of ministry.”
Jaehnig earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and her master’s degree in education from the University of Vermont. Her graduate studies focused on higher education and student affairs administration.
She worked at Syracuse University in Syracuse, N.Y., in the Division of Student Affairs from 1993 to 2010 as the director of the LGBT Resource Center beginning in 2001 and, before that, as associate director of Residence Life.
Jaehnig is scheduled to host information sessions about the seminary at 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28, on the Portland campus, 159 State St., and at 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, on the Bangor campus, 2 College Circle.
