A 17-year-old Old Town boy was stopped on King Street on Wednesday night for driving a vehicle with an obstructed license plate and during the traffic stop police discovered he was operating with a suspended license, Sgt. Travis Roy said on Thursday.

The teen driver told police at around 6:25 p.m. that he was going to pick up his mother from work, who also has a suspended driver’s license, the sergeant said.

“The owner of the car, who arrived in a taxi, [also] had a suspended driver’s license,” Roy said. “They both left in the taxi.”

The teenager, whose name was not released because he is a juvenile, was charged with driving with a suspended license, Roy said.

Another, licensed driver came back in the same taxi and drove the car away, Roy said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
