Man arrested after police find bloody scene in Bangor

Bangor police were called to Shepherd Drive late Monday for a report of a family fight and when they arrived at around 11:10 p.m. no one would answer the door, Sgt. Paul Edwards said Tuesday.

After knocking repeatedly on the door and hearing muffled noises from inside, Officer Mike Jewett looked through a window and saw what he believed to be blood on the floor.

The landlord arrived and opened the door for police, who found blood on the walls and floor.

“There was quite a bit of blood,” Edwards said, adding later that “alcohol was very much involved in this case.”

Donald Michaud, 48, of Bangor was inside the residence with a 45-year-old woman who was bleeding from her hand. Both had been drinking and the woman was uncooperative and refused medical treatment, Edwards said.

Michaud, who was on probation, was given an Intoxilyzer test that indicated he had alcohol in his system, Edwards said. Michaud’s probation bars him from consuming alcohol, so he was arrested and taken to Penobscot County Jail.

The incident also was forwarded to the domestic violence detective at the Bangor Police Department and other charges may be pending, Edwards said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
