BANGOR, Maine — A Bangor city plow truck lost control on Mount Hope Avenue on Monday morning and slid into a telephone pole, snapping it in half.
Slippery roads are being blamed for the incident, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said. No injuries were reported, he said.
The accident closed the roadway between the back parking lot of Fruit Street School and Fern Street for a couple of hours, a dispatcher from the Bangor Police Department said.
Bangor Daily News photographer John Clarke Russ said the pole snapped in half and that crews from Bangor Hydro-Electric Co. and Bangor Gas were at the scene repairing the damage.
Susan Faloon, Bangor Hydro spokeswoman, said there were no power outages, but that the company did have to replace the pole.
