TERRA HAUTE, Ind. — University of Maine junior Corey Conner ran to an impressive 42nd-place finish among 253 runners at the NCAA Cross Country championships Monday.

The nursing major from North Townsend, Mass., completed the 6,000-meter race in 20 minutes, 41 seconds, improving on her place in the 2009 NCAA race by 41 places.

This caps a storybook season for Conner, who won the New England championship race and finished fourth at the NCAA Northeast Regionals to qualify for the national championships.
