John Bapst shuts out MCI, reaches fourth straight regional final

BANGOR — Jordan Charpentier passed for three touchdowns and rushed for another Saturday night as No. 2 John Bapst shut out No. 3 Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield in an Eastern Maine Class C semifinal at Husson University.

The Crusaders will travel to Stearns of Millinocket Saturday for the EM final at 1 p.m. It will be the fourth straight appearance in the regional final for John Bapst.

Charpentier completed 11 of 18 passes for 262 yards and added nine rushes for 30 yards to lead the Crusaders.

Andrew Catlin caught a 20-yard pass from Charpentier to put the Crusaders on the board in the second quarter. Charpentier had a 41-yard scoring pass to Lucas Philippon in the second and a 40-yard TD pass to Max Andrews in the third.

Charpentier had a 6-yard scoring run in the fourth and Jake Leonard also had a 6-yard TD rush. Mark Dieuveuil converted all five extra-point kicks.

Andrews caught three passes for 63 yards and had five solo tackles with an assist. Keith Nelson also had five solo tackles and one assisted tackles and Chris Desmond chipped in four solo tackles and two assists.

Craig Reazor went 9-for-28 passing for 82 yards to lead the Huskies. MCI had 31 rushes for 76 yards.

Britton Moholland had six solo tackles while Reazor tallied four solo tackles and an assist.

Leavitt 31, Belfast 8

At Kents Hill, Jake Ouellette rushed 114 yards on 15 carries and scored two touchdowns in leading top-seeded Leavitt of Turner to an Eastern Maine Class B semifinal victory over No. 5 Belfast.

Ouellette scored on a 10-yard run in the first and a 51-yard run in the third for Leavitt. Jordan Hersom led Leavitt with 173 yards on 23 carries.

He also completed a 41-yard touchdown pass to Lucas Witham in the fourth to give Leavitt a 28-0 lead.

Max Cloutier hit a 38-yard field goal in the fourth and converted all four of his extra-point kicks.

Brad Reed connected with Lani Eversage for a 49-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter for Belfast. Mike McFadden caught the 2-point conversion pass from Reed.

Reed was 8-for-22 passing for 105 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. Eversage caught three passes for 66 yards.

Dylan Webster led the Lions with 12 carries for 45 yards.

Leavitt intercepted three passes on defense while Belfast recovered two fumbles.
