MILO — The No. 3 Penquis Patriots scored four first-half goals to beat the No. 6 Calais Blue Devils 4-0 and advance to the semifinal round of the Eastern Maine Class C boys soccer playoffs Thursday.

The Patriots will take on the No. 2 Orono Red Riots Saturday.

Jerell Arefein, Gage McLaughlin, Chris Brackett and Bryan Russell each scored a goal for 7-7-1 Penquis while Cevonte Johnson, Lucas Grinell and Anthony Murano each recorded an assist. Trevor Lyford made six saves on 14 shots.

For 9-5-1 Calais, Joe Mitchell scored off an Adam Geel assist and Tyler Morrison made 17 saves on 39 shots.

Orono 2, Madawaska 1

At the University of Maine, Orono, No. 2 Orono scored two goals in the first three minutes and held on to defeat No. 7 Madawaska in Class C.

Dan Perry scored on a cross from Miguel Caballero 1:38 into the first half for 13-1-1 Orono. Matt Cloutier made it 2-0 with an assist from Miguel Caballero 3:04 in the first. Alex Caballero saved 11 of 14 shots.

Ian Lee scored off a Deejay Gendreau assist with 22:57 left in the second half to bring 9-6 Madawaska within a goal. Tim Deschenes and Kyle Blanchette combined to stop 12 of 14 shots.
