Maine father and child found after getting lost

The Associated Press

MOUNT VERNON, Maine — A Maine father and his 4-year-old child are safe after they got lost in the woods near their Mount Vernon home.

Mount Vernon Fire Chief Dana Dunn said the pair were missing for about an hour Sunday before they were located by a firefighter.

Dunn says he’s unsure if the child was a boy or a girl.

The Kennebec Journal says firefighters, Maine State Police and Warden Service and members of a local snowmobile club began mounting a search around 5 p.m.

Emergency responders from other communities were called to the scene, but the father and child were found before additional forces arrived.
