Somerville woman dies in house fire

The Associated Press

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a house fire that killed a woman who lived alone in the Lincoln County town of Somerville on Saturday evening.

Firefighters from five communities responded to the report of a fire at the home on Long Pond just before 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

The owner of the home, 86-year-old Pauline Danley, originally was reported as missing. Investigators, however, found her body in a second-floor bedroom after the fire had been extinguished, according to a release from the Maine Department of Public Safety. Danley lived alone in the lakefront house.

Investigators with the State Fire Marshal’s Office still were looking into the cause of the fire, but have determined that the fire started in the bedroom, the release stated.

No other information was available Sunday afternoon.
