BELFAST, Maine — Area law enforcement agencies are requesting help from the public as they search for a missing Belfast man who is wanted on several outstanding arrest warrants.

Benjamin Rankin, 21, is wanted by the Belfast Police Department on charges of forgery, theft by deception and violation of conditions of release.

He also is wanted in Hancock County for burglary, theft and violations of conditions of release, according to a press release from the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.

Rankin was arrested in June for an alleged armed robbery at a home in Orland, according to a BDN report. Police said he had fled on foot, but Bucksport officers found and arrested him later that night.

Rankin was booked and then bailed from Hancock County Jail, according to police reports.

He is considered by police to be unpredictable, Lt. Jason Trundy of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office said Monday. Police ask anyone that has information about his whereabouts to contact the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office or the Belfast Police Department, both at 338-2040, or the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office at 667-7576.
