KINGFIELD – Maine Huts and Trails will dedicate its newest hut, the Grand Falls Hut, Oct. 10 during the long Columbus Day weekend.
The celebration begins with the dedication of a new 200 foot pedestrian bridge Saturday Oct.9 at 1 p.m. The bridge spans the Dead River connecting the ends of the new Dead River trail which leads to the new hut. Immediately following, at 4 p.m., the Grand Falls Hut will be dedicated.
Invited guests, VIPs, and major donors will occupy the hut Saturday night. On Sunday night the doors will open to the public providing a novel and memorable stay for guests.
This is just part of a big weekend for Maine Huts & Trails. MT&H will have a booth at the Sugarloaf homecoming weekend Arts & Crafts Fair both Saturday and Sunday. The fair is held at the Sugarloaf Base Lodge. Here folks can learn about the organization, it’s facilities and may purchase memberships.
Sunday, Oct. 10 is also the date for the Annual Members Bar-B-Q. This year’s event will be at the Poplar Stream Hut from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lunch for members is free. Non-members are welcome and will be charged $10.
