Pittsfield hospital to welcome doctor

PITTSFIELD, Maine — Sebasticook Valley Health President and CEO Victoria Alexander-Lane has announced that Dr. Howard Margolskee will join the organization in November as medical director of SVH Family Care. SVH Family Care consists of four primary care practices located in Carmel, Clinton, Newport and Pittsfield.

Margolskee brings more than 30 years of medical experience and expertise as well as a familiarity with central Maine, according to a press release.

“His leadership will be a tremendously valuable asset to our health care providers in providing the highest quality care to our patients,” said Alexander-Lane.

Margolskee is a physician with Auburn Medical Associates, a department of St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston. He previously practiced medicine in the Pittsfield Health Care Center for 30 years and served as the local school district’s school physician. He sold his practice to Sebasticook Valley Hospital in 2007.

Margolskee holds a medical degree from Louvain University in Belgium. He completed his internship at Englewood Hospital in New Jersey and his residency in internal medicine at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, N.Y.
