FREEPORT, Maine — A Maine company that was one of the early boutique distilleries with its Cold River Vodka is branching out. Maine Distilleries is adding gin to its product line.

Cold River Gin, two years in the making, is handcrafted and batch-distilled in a copper pot still in Freeport, just like the original Cold River Vodka. The company says it’s based on a 400-year-old traditional gin recipe.

Cold River Gin went on sale in late July in Maine with a suggested retail price of $25.99.

In addition to Maine, the gin is hitting shelves this summer in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York, Maryland, Georgia, and Washington, D.C.
