AUGUSTA, Maine — It’s another Maine state government shutdown day, but parks are open and emergency workers remain on duty.
Maine state parks, historic sites and campgrounds are open on Friday. Maine Forest Service rangers, state game wardens, troopers and others whose jobs are deemed essential are on duty as well.
But most other state offices, including the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, are closed.
Eight more shutdown days are scheduled through May 2011 as part of the law to balance the state budget.
