GRAY, Maine — Humorist Tim Sample will perform two shows during Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Day on Saturday, June 19, at the Maine Wildlife Park on Route 26.
The shows are part of the department’s annual event to highlight the work of fisheries and wildlife biologists, safety officers, educators and game wardens. Wildlife Day will run from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
“MDIFW Day is an opportunity for people who do not directly contribute financially to our wildlife and habitat preservation programs to learn more about what the department does to ensure their enjoyment of Maine’s abundant wildlife both now and in the future,” said Lisa Kane, the department’s natural sciences educator and Maine Wildlife Park manager.
Sample will perform two 50-minute shows, the first at about 10:30 a.m. and the second at about 11:30 a.m. During his career, the humorist has sold more than a million albums, books and videos.
Sample’s show is sponsored by several Gray-area businesses and organizations, including the Gems of Route 26, Cole Farms Restaurant and Friends of Maine Wildlife Park.
Regular admission fees will be charged. The event is free for ages 3 and under, $5 for ages 5-12, $7 for adults, $5 for seniors.
The Maine Wildlife Park has more than 30 species of native wildlife on display, plus wildlife gardens, nature trails, a fish hatchery and other interactive exhibits and displays. The park is open 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. daily, April 15-Nov. 11. Visitors must leave the premises by 6 p.m.
