BLUE HILL, Maine — Two people were injured Tuesday morning in a head-on collision on Route 15.
According to Trooper Dan Ryan of the Maine State Police, Emma Woodward, 17, of Stonington was driving north on Route 15 near the intersection of Range Road at about 7:15 a.m. Tuesday when her car crossed the centerline into the path of a pickup driven by Jeffrey Reed, 45, of Bucksport who was traveling south. The two vehicles collided head-on.
Woodward suffered multiple injuries in the accident, including a broken femur, Ryan said. Reed complained of chest pain after the accident. Both initially were taken to Blue Hill Memorial Hospital and later transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. Both Woodward and Reed were listed in fair condition Tuesday afternoon, according to a nursing supervisor at EMMC.
Woodward’s 1995 Subaru and Reed’s 1994 Ford pickup truck had extensive front-end damage in the crash, Ryan said. Each was considered a total loss.
The accident remains under investigation.
