Mallett to launch Lubec music season

LUBEC, Maine — Cobscook Bay Music, founded and operated by Fred Pierce, is bringing entertainer David Mallett to Lubec for a “Start of the Season” benefit concert.

The concert will benefit fundraising for the Lubec 2011 Bicentennial and kick off the spring and summer musical season Down East.

The concert will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 1, at the Lubec Congregational Christian Church, 27 Main St.

Tickets are $15 if purchased now, $20 at the door.

Pierce said early-bird tickets could be purchased only online at www.cobscookbaymusic.com.

Gary Cook & Friends also will perform.

Monica Elliott, owner of Monica’s Chocolates in Lubec, will provide dinner for Mallett and the band as well as concert ticket holders.

Meals must be purchased in combination with concert tickets through only the online site no later than April 23. Lunch will be served from noon to 2 p.m. and dinner from 5 to 6 p.m.

There are three lunch and dinner offerings, including dinner fare of meat lasagna, steak or lobster stew.

Seating is family-style (four to a table) and is limited to 16 for each time. The meals will be served at Elliott’s chocolate shop on Route 189, just a short ride from the concert site.
