Hancock man injured when pickup rolls over

By Dawn Gagnon, BDN Staff

HANCOCK, Maine — A Hancock man was taken to a Bangor hospital for injuries he suffered Thursday night when the pickup he was driving rolled over at the intersection of Thorson and Washington Junction roads.

Brent Hutchins, 33, was flown to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, where he was still being evaluated late Thursday night, state police Trooper Jessica Shorey said. Shorey said that Hutchins’ injuries, which included a cut on his head, were not considered life-threatening.

Shorey said a female minor who was a passenger in Hutchins’ vehicle was taken to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth for treatment of back pain. A male minor in Hutchins’ vehicle was not injured, she said.

Shorey said the accident occurred shortly before 8:30 p.m. as Hutchins was attempting to make a turn from Thorson Road onto Washington Junction Road.

As he did so, the tires of his 2001 Ford Ranger pickup sank into the soft dirt on the shoulder of the roadway, causing the pickup to leave the road and travel down an embankment, after which it rolled over once before coming to a rest on its wheels.
