BROWNVILLE – Henry Richmond Roy, 82, passed away the morning of Feb. 25, 2010, with his daughter, Donna, at his side at a nursing facility in Bangor. He was born Sept. 27, 1927, in Salem, Mass. He served in the U.S. Army as part of the Occupation Army in Germany from 1946 to 1948. He was a self-taught carpenter and tradesman. Henry was a longtime resident of Brownville, who enjoyed the outdoors, especially the areas surrounding Katahdin Ironworks, Ebeemee and Sebois lakes. For many years he spent each spring tapping maple trees and preparing his own maple syrup, and each summer tending to his vegetable garden. He was a quiet man, and devoted husband and father. His quiet presence will be missed by his family and friends. Henry was predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Jacqueline, who passed in March 2008. He is survived by his brother, Harold of Northport; and his children, Beverly McKay, Keith D. Roy, Mary McIntyre, Elizabeth Semenchuck, Janet Thomas, Donna Ducharme and Raymond Roy; as well as a large extended family. A memorial service and interment will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Henry’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America at www.alzfdn.org.
