She was born July 30, 1926, in Weston, the daughter of Orland and Lois L. (Cleaves) Gilpatrick. She attended schools in Weston and Danforth, but had to leave school in the 11th grade to help out at home. Barbara married Vaughn L. When her children were in school she was always there when they got home, and she had something great baking for them and their friends. She took care of her granddaughters while her daughter worked outside the home, until they were in their teens. She was a devoted Christian and read the Bible daily until her eyesight failed. She loved Christian TV and was a partner with several of her favorite ministries for many years. Murray of Wallingsford, Va.; two granddaughters, Barbara Jones of Houlton and Nancy Clifford of Bangor; one great-grandson, who was a great joy to her, Collin Clifford of Bangor; four sisters, Margaret Varney, Glennis Lynds and Frances Levesque, all of Houlton, and Ann Hart of Whitleyville, Tenn.; two brothers, Paul and Jen Gilpatrick of Weston and Donald T. and Vivian Lloyd of Danforth; special niece, Kathy Mills of Houlton, who helped with Barbara’s home care in recent months; and several other nieces and nephews.
