JOHN E. LARSON

SURPRISE, Ariz., and PALMYRA – John E. Larson, 58, son of Phyllis G. and Arvid E. Larson, passed away unexpectedly Feb. 22, 2010, in Surprise, Ariz. Jack is survived by his wife, Kathleen Swanson of Surprise, Ariz., and Palmyra; sons, Jeremy and wife, Heather, of St. Albans, and Scott and wife, Marci and baby granddaughter, Olivia, of Ellsworth; his sister, Barbara Caldwell of Coventry, Conn.; and his brother, Bruce and wife, Cindy, of Goshen, Conn. He has several nieces and nephews. Jack grew up in Goshen, Conn. He attended Wamogo Regional High School where he was involved in soccer, track and basketball. He also retained his membership in Goshen Agricultural Society, as the Goshen Fair was a big part of his life while growing up. After marrying Kathy, they moved to Maine. Jack was employed by SAPPI paper mill as a wood yard supervisor for 30 years before retiring due to illness. Jack was past master of Corinthian Lodge, Hartland. He was also a member of Ira Berry Chapter, Pittsfield and Anah Temple Shrine, Bangor. Jack loved watching University of Connecticut basketball, as well as Red Sox baseball. His favorite pastimes were movies, Texas Hold’em and going to Las Vegas. He and Kathy had recently become snowbirds in Arizona and settled in an active senior retirement community. A celebration of life will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 6, at Hartland Community Center and 1 p.m. Saturday, March 13, at First Congregational Church, Goshen, Conn. Jack will be greatly missed by all who knew him to be a very kind and gentle man.
