STONINGTON – Galen Thompson Jr., 53, died Feb. 18, 2010, at a Penobscot nursing facility surround by his family. He was born April 27, 1956, in Blue Hill, the son of Galen and Janet (Snowden) Thompson Sr. Galen joined the U.S. Navy after high school and after his discharge, worked the majority of his career as a fisherman. He also enjoyed spending time talking and socializing with the locals in their day-to-day activities. He is survived by one son, Jason Thompson of Massachusetts; his mother, Janet Snowden of Deer Isle; his father, Galen Thompson Sr. of Stonington; two sisters, Katie Thompson of Stonington and Susan Cook of Stonington and Florida; one brother, Jonathan Thompson of Stonington; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by three brothers, Barry, Robbie and Marshall Thompson. A service of remembrance will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, 9 Thurlow’s Hill, Road, Stonington. Friends may call 10 a.m. until the time of service.
