OLD TOWN – Eugene J. Jamieson Sr., 89, passed away Feb. 18, 2010, at a Bangor health care facility. He was born March 2, 1920, in Brewer, the son of John A. and Annie T. (McCann) Jamieson. Eugene grew up in Brewer and graduated from Brewer High in 1939. After high school, he joined the Army. He proudly served his country in World War II from 1942 to 1945. Upon his return he moved to Old Town, where he raised his family. He worked for many years, and then retired from the University of Maine, Orono. Eugene was a family man who had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was also an avid reader. Eugene is survived by three children, Stephen Jamieson and his wife, Valerie, of Old Town, Eugene Jamieson Jr. of Old Town and Ann Brown and her husband, Del, of Greenbush; a granddaughter, Angela Jamieson of Old Town; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Eugene was predeceased by his wife, Cecile (Daigle) Jamieson in 2006; his brother, Paul Jamieson; and his sister, Lucille Colley. “Papa” and his family thank the staff at the Maine Veterans Home, Bangor, for all of their compassion and the excellent care that they provided. Family and friends are invited to a memorial gathering 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, at the Maine Veterans Home, Bangor. Interment will be at a later date at the Maine Veterans Cemetery, Augusta.
