BROWNVILLE – Esther A. Larson, 94, died Feb. 13, 2010, at the Maine Veterans Home, Bangor. She was born May 16, 1915, in Brownville, the daughter of Peter and Helena Annie (Jacobson) Larson. She graduated from Brownville High School and New England Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing. She served overseas during World War II as a first lieutenant with the 7th General Army Nurse Corps. Esther worked as a nurse for many years at the Togus Veterans Affair Hospital, Augusta, retiring in 1973. She was a member of Brownville Community Church, Rose of Sharon No. 113 Order of the Eastern Star, Brownville High School Alumni Association, Fitzgerald American Legion Post No. 2, Brownville Extension and the New England Deaconess Hospital Alumni Association. Miss Larson is survived by two brothers, Carl J. Larson of Ohio and Arthur T. Larson and his wife, Arlene, of Brownville; a sister, Mildred Boehne of Melbourne, Fla.; two special nephews, David Larson and his wife, Dorothy, and James Larson and his wife, Susan, all of Milo; three special nieces, Lorna Melonson and her husband, George, of Dunnellon, Fla., Rita Larlee and her husband, Eugene, of Millinocket and Bunny Worster and her husband, Charles, of Madison; and many other dearly loved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Albion O. Larson and Einar L. Larson. Friends are invited to call 11 a.m. until the time of service noon Wednesday, Feb. 17, at Lary Funeral Home, Milo, with Pastor Dave Chicoine officiating.
