AUGUSTA, Maine – Jacob Moore scored 16 points and grabbed five rebounds as fourth-ranked Hampden Academy edged No. 5 Brunswick 50-38 in an Eastern Maine Class A boys basketball quarterfinal Saturday evening at the Augusta Civic Center.

Hampden (15-4) will play the winner of Saturday’s late quarterfinal between top-ranked Brewer and No. 8 Skowhegan in a regional semifinal on Wednesday evening.

Brunswick ends its season with a 16-3 record.

Center Noah Burditt added 13 points and 12 rebounds for Hampden, while Christian McCue came off the bench to score 13 points, 10 in the second half.

This game was close throughout, with Hampden taking the lead for good on back-to-back 3-pointers by McCue late in the third quarter.

Those shots gave the Broncos a 33-30 advantage, and while Brunswick stayed within 40-38 with 3:34 left, Hampden scored the game’s final 10 points, including four each fromMoore and McCue, to pull away.
