LEVANT – Alton A. Brann, 87, died Feb. 12, 2010, at a Bangor hospital after a short illness. He was born Feb. 14, 1922, in Levant, the son of Alby A. and Gertrude (Houston) Brann. He attended Levant schools and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Alton worked for the Maine Department of Transportation for many years. He enjoyed card games, horse racing and having lunch with “the gang” at McDonald’s. He is survived by several nieces and nephews, Margaret Curry, Trever Charters, Rodney Langley, Thayne Charters, Kirk Charters, Nancy Langley and Tammy Hodgdon; several great-nieces and great-nephews; special friends and neighbors, Steve and Gail Partridge, and Dale Rodgers; and his beloved dog, Tippy. Alton was predeceased by three sisters, Mildred Langley, Marjorie Brann and Carmon Charters; and a niece, Shelley Rowell. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15, at Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Road, Corinth, where friends may call noon until the time of service. Spring burial will be at Waugh Cemetery, Levant.
