JONESPORT – Marilyn Lucille Smith, 82, passed away peacefully Feb. 10, 2010, in Machias. She was born Feb. 28, 1927, in Jonesport, the daughter of Gladys Kirby Smith and Leon Roscoe Smith Sr. Marilyn was a graduate of Jonesport High School, Class of 1946. She was a member of Sawyer Memorial Congregational Church and a life member of Rumery Chapter No. 46, Order of the Eastern Star, Jonesport. Affectionately known as “Aunt Sister,” she was a devoted daughter, and delighted in being with family and friends. She enjoyed many winters in Florida where she spent her time reading, making crafts and helping Nana and Gramp entertain any family members who were fortunate enough to visit. She was predeceased by her mother, in 1998; her father, in 1938; her sister, Lucille, in 1917; and her brother, Robert, in 1997. She is survived by two brothers, Raymond Smith and his wife, Barbara, and Leon Smith Jr. and his wife, Angelena, all of West Jonesport; as well as several nieces and nephews and their families. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, at Sawyer Memorial Congregational Church. Interment will be after at Greenwood Cemetery.
