BRADFORD – Richard E. Lancaster, 82, husband of Betty (LaChance) Lancaster, died unexpectedly Feb. 9, 2010, at a Bangor hospital. He was born May 5, 1927, in Corinna, the son of Benjamin and Grace (Willey) Lancaster. Richard attended Corinna Union Academy, after which he worked in area woolen mills. Richard loved woodworking and later in life worked as a self-employed carpenter owning Maine Supply Co. Richard was a member of Brewer Eagles Club, Aerie No. 3177. One of Richard’s hobbies was raising and breeding birds. Most recently, Richard owned and operated Big Al’s Pizza, Hudson. In addition to his wife of 39 years, Richard is survived by nine children, Richard Lancaster Jr. and his wife, Cheryl, of Skowhegan, Michael Lancaster of Westbrook, Steven Lancaster and his wife, Louanne, of Westbrook, Jeff Lancaster and his wife, Julie, of Norridgewock, Sharon Lancaster and her friend, Richard, of Skowhegan, Stephen Corliss of Bangor, Vance Corliss and his wife, Rebecca, of Bradford, Robert Lancaster and his wife, Bertha, of Navarre, Fla., and Michelle Arnold and her husband, James, of Corinna; two godchildren, Megan Nelson and Britt LaChance; 23 grandchildren and two expected great-grandchildren; siblings, Grace Neal of Millinocket, Albion Smith of Old Town and Galen Smith and his wife, Joanne, of Dunkirk, N.Y.; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Lisa and Adam Smith, the Jones family and many others. Richard was predeceased by a son, Richard “Ritchie” Corliss; a brother, Darrell Lancaster; and a sister, Rita Wiggett.
