ETNA – Stephen A. Graves, 66, died peacefully Feb. 6, 2010, at home after a brief illness. He was born Jan. 2, 1944, in Etna, son of John T. and Flora M. (Connors) Graves. Steve was a graduate of Newport High School, Class of 1962, where he was a member of the Glee Club, Future Farmers of America, the rifle club and the wood safety association. He was also a graduate of Bailey Technical Institute, St. Louis, with a diploma in diesel mechanics. Steve was an award winning member of the Maine Antler and Skull Trophy Club and a member of the Maine Trappers Association. Surviving in addition to his mother of Etna, are his loving wife of 45 years, Georgenia Graves of Etna; four children, Regina Graves Weaver and her husband, Richard, of Pennsylvania, Stephanie Graves St.Michel and her husband, Jim, of Palmyra, Stephen D. Graves and his wife, Aimee, of Etna and Brenda Graves Pitcher and her husband, Adam, of Cumberland; grandchildren, Craig, Amanda, Sarah, Ricky, Nicole, James, Rachel, Jonathan, Brian, Jacob, Seth and Mason; a brother, Sam Graves of Bangor; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a grandson, John; and a brother, David. A service in celebration of his life will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, at Calvary Chapel, 154 River Road, Orrington, with the Rev. Ken Graves, pastor, officiating. Spring interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Etna. Please no flowers.
