CORINTH – George D. Boone, 79, the husband of Joyce (Ames) Boone, died Feb. 7, 2010, at the Maine Veterans Home, Bangor, after a long illness. He was born Feb. 24, 1930, in Bangor, son of David and Alma (Grivois) Boone. George served in the U.S. Army earning a Korean Service Medal with three bronze stars. He enjoyed many careers in his lifetime, but retired from the Postal Service after 30 years. He really enjoyed spending time with his family, especially at camp. He had many special friends whom he enjoyed having coffee with at Robinson’s. In addition to his wife of 55 years, George is survived by a daughter, Susan King and her husband, Dwayne, of Corinth; a son, Andrew and his wife, Annette, of Glenburn; three grandsons, Matt Burpee and wife, Michele, of Mississippi, Shane Burpee and wife, Tessa, of Brewer and Christian Boone of Glenburn; two granddaughters, Lily Boone of Glenburn and Tabbi King of Waterville; two great-granddaughters, Nora Burpee of Brewer and Elle King of Waterville; a brother, Richard Boone of Ohio; two brothers-in-law, Lloyd Ames and wife, Eunice, of Kenduskeag and Doug Ames and wife, Brenda, of Ohio; four sisters-in-law, Louine Sullivan, Nancy Campbell, Ann Lenz and Elinor Jackson, all of Corinth; several nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by two daughters, an infant and Lynn (Boone) LeBlanc; and a sister, Helen. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Road, Corinth. Funeral services will be held noon Wednesday at Corinth United Methodist Church with Pastor Cynthia Nickerson officiating. The family invites friends and relatives to join them at the church fellowship hall after the service for a time of refreshment and fellowship. Spring burial will be at Corinthian Cemetery, Corinth.
