ROGER A. WELTS

ABBOT – Roger A. Welts, 81, died unexpectedly Feb. 2, 2010, at his home. He was born Sept. 18, 1928, in Parkman, the son of Alston and Elizabeth (Hodgdon) Welts. Roger graduated from Guilford High School and attended the University of Maine, Orono, for two years. He had a great love for the outdoors and animals, and worked in the woods before serving two years in Vietnam for the U.S. Navy. Roger is survived by two daughters, Ronda Bartholomew of Pennsylvania, and Roxanne Faison of Florida; two sons, Roger and Rockney Shepheard, both of Georgia; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Durham and Anne Donovan, both of Belfast; two aunts, Minnie Bridge of Parkman and Donna Wagoner of Iowa; and a close friend, Barbara Morales of Parkman. Roger was predeceased by a sister, Elaine Gousy. A graveside memorial service will be held in the spring at Elmwood Cemetery. For those who wish, donations in Roger’s memory may be made to Donald W.
